Atlanta Fed clarifies contingencies ahead of hurricane season

Outages could affect bank supervision, discount window, cash, cheque and ACH processing

The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta released a statement clarifying tropical storm contingency plans on April 24. The publication will “help minimise any impact a crisis might have on Atlanta Fed functions”, said first vice-president André Anderson.

“We learned during the pandemic that access to clear communication is one of the most critical components of maintaining operations during a crisis,” Anderson added.

A potential outage, Anderson said, could have effects on bank supervision
