Net-zero transition has been “tepid” despite the limited time remaining, MAS chief says

Central banks are moving from “awareness” of climate change to “action”, but there is not much time left, Ravi Menon said today (May 31).

Menon – head of the Monetary Authority of Singapore and chair of the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS) – said there had only been a “tepid transition” towards net-zero carbon emissions so far. He said the world was “far from” achieving the reduction in emissions needed to prevent average temperatures rising more than 1.5°C above pre-industrial
