IMF mulls SDR reallocation ‘trust’

The International Monetary Fund is considering establishing a ‘Resilience and Sustainability Trust’ that would allow its special drawing rights (SDRs) to be redistributed to poorer nations.

As part of the IMF’s weekly press briefing, the fund’s head of communications said the trust would be a possible mechanism for countries with excess SDRs to channel them to countries in need of resources. Some richer nations have indicated they would be willing to share their part of the planned allocation.
