Deputy governor says 42 employees of finance firms have died because of coronavirus

An estimated 1,137 professionals in China’s financial system contracted the coronavirus and 42 have died since the outbreak in late January, according to Chen Yulu, deputy governor of the Chinese central bank.

“During the fight against the coronavirus, much financial services work needs to be done at the front line,” Chen told reporters in Beijing on Sunday (March 22). “Finance professionals have worked hard, and some have even sacrificed their lives.”
