Central banks step up liquidity support

Several central banks unveiled new or expanded liquidity operations today (March 13), a day after the New York Fed upped its liquidity offering as high as $5.5 trillion.

Today the Reserve Bank of Australia, Bank of Canada, Norges Bank and Riksbank all offered extra liquidity, some in targeted operations designed to sustain bank lending and others in standard open-market operations.
