Bank of Canada steps up financial stability research efforts

Economy faces risks from in-household debt, housing and cyber attacks, senior policy adviser says

The Bank of Canada announced a new Financial System Research Centre and an accompanying annual conference to boost its efforts in financial stability research, on November 14.

The centre aims to provide policy-makers and academics with in-depth research and analysis on financial stability issues in the domestic economy. The conference will facilitate a “two-way conversation” between the central bank and the research community, the senior policy adviser at the BoC’S financial stability
