BoJ governor offers advice on domestic resilience to external shocks

Central bank co-operation and communication are crucial for domestic resilience, Kuroda explains

Better anchored inflation expectations and regional co-operation among central banks ease the effects of external shocks on the domestic economy, Haruhiko Kuroda, the governor of the Bank of Japan, said in a recent speech.

The governor highlighted how increased global and regional financial integration has intensified the spillover effects from global shocks to domestic financial stability.

To alleviate some of the risks, the governor proposed that central banks can better “anchor” inflation
