BoE to provide ‘tailored’ assistance to African counterparts

UK central bank will share expertise with counterparts in South Africa, Sierra Leone and Ghana

The Bank of England is to provide £2 million ($2.8 million) in “tailored” technical assistance to its counterparts in Ghana, Sierra Leone and South Africa, as part of a larger UK initiative to strengthen its ties with Africa.

“In our increasingly interconnected global financial system, co-operation between central banks is critical to providing the financial stability on which all our citizens rely,” says the BoE’s chief operating officer, Joanna Place.
