US deregulation may hinder adoption of Basel III – Dombret

Agreement reached on most German concerns, but level of output floors still key, official says

The US government risks derailing the implementation of the next round of Basel III reforms if it pushes for financial deregulation, a senior official at the Deutsche Bundesbank warned.

“The current debate about deregulation in the United States gives me cause for concern,” said Andreas Dombret, the Bundesbank executive board member who has been the institution’s lead negotiator on Basel III, today (March 15).
