BoE panellists: Central banks need better understanding of policy interactions

The interaction of different parts of central banks' mandates is poorly understood at present and may create unexpected risks, panellists at the Bank of England's (BoE) ‘One Bank' research conference warned today.

The panel discussion brought together academics and central bank researchers to tackle the question of how monetary and macro-prudential policies ought to co-exist and interact – but more questions were raised than answered.
