Osborne emphasises ‘support for growth' remit for BoE financial policy committee

The Bank of England's (BoE) Financial Policy Committee (FPC) must give "due weight" to "the impact of its actions on the near-term economic recovery" in the UK, according to a letter written to the governor of the British central bank by chancellor of the exchequer George Osborne yesterday.

The letter to Mervyn King accompanied the first annual 'remit and recommendations' for the committee, which held its latest meeting in March this year.

The recommendations that came from that meeting include
