
BoE statistics indicate slight improvements in UK lending

Statistics published by the Bank of England today (June 30) showed lending to businesses declined slightly over the three months to June but at a slower rate than in previous months, while lending to individuals increased slightly.
The statistics indicated that the three-month annualised rate of lending to businesses in June was –0.9%, compared with –2.9% in the previous month. Secured lending to individuals increased by 0.3%, while consumer credit increased by 3.6%.
