Lagarde encouraged Paris Club to broaden membership as South Korea joins
South Korea becomes 21st member of creditor country group
It is important to broaden the membership of the Paris Club, Christine Lagarde said today (July 1), welcoming the accession of South Korea as a new member.
The Paris Club comprises officials from 21 creditor countries across the globe. Speaking at its 60th anniversary, Lagarde highlighted how new members could "enhance the club's representativeness and continued long-term relevance".
Lagarde, International Monetary Fund managing director, hopes South Korea's accession will "act as a catalyst"
