Central bank’s new “data access lab” will support innovative research, governor says

The Reserve Bank of India’s “new age data warehouse” will allow its economists to access granular data in support of new research streams, governor Shaktikanta Das said on June 28.

The governor said the central bank’s statistics and information management system had evolved over “several decades” as statistical best practice moved forward. Recently, information needs had “exploded” due to the growing complexity and global integration of the Indian economy, he told a ‘Statistics Day’ conference
