Lagarde says talk of AI bubble misses ‘bigger picture’

ECB president, a former AI sceptic, now believes not embracing it could ‘jeopardise Europe’s future’

Christine Lagarde has said that when people focus on the “temporary exuberance running ahead of underlying fundamentals” in equities linked to artificial intelligence, they may be missing “the bigger picture”.

In a speech today (November 24) in the Slovak capital Bratislava, the European Central Bank president encouraged EU member states to “remove all the obstacles” that might prevent them from “embracing this transformation”. Otherwise, the bloc risked “letting the wave of AI adoption pass” it
