Ex-NY Fed chief says latest figures are an anomaly, though others point to Trump policies’ impact

Economists remain uncertain about how to read the latest figures from the US Bureau of Economic Analysis, which showed a contraction in GDP during the first quarter.

Enrique Dussel Peters, professor of economics at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, says the negative growth reported on April 30 shows that US president Donald Trump’s policies are already having a negative impact.
