‘No strategy’ in US tariffs, says Mexican economist

Measures ignore “triangular” trade relationship between US, China and Mexico

A Mexican economist has argued that US tariffs on China and Mexico ignore the “triangular” trade relationship that has emerged between the three countries.

In a conversation published by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas on March 3, Enrique Dussel Peters, a professor at the Universidad Nacional Autonóma de México, says this complex relationship is fundamental from Mexico’s perspective and not sufficiently understood in Washington.
