Central banks in high- and lower-income economies employ a very similar proportion of their staff in economics, research and policy departments.
High-income economies – as classified by the World Bank – employ 7.3% of their staff in these departments while their peers in emerging jurisdictions allocate 7.2% of their total staff, according to data from the 30 central banks surveyed in Economics Benchmarks 2020.
