Elderson says authorities should use Covid-19 to boost green transition

Aid to aviation sector should be conditioned on moving away from carbon dioxide emissions

Authorities worldwide should use the Covid-19 crisis as an opportunity to accelerate the transition towards a greener economic system, Frank Elderson said on April 29.

The chairman of the Network of Central Banks and Supervisors for Greening the Financial System (NGFS) stressed: “We should frontload already identified green investment programmes such as the EC [European Commission] Green Deal and the Climate Agreement in the Netherlands.”
