Real-time index GDPNow forecasts annualised expansion of 4% in Q1 2018

US economic expansion is gathering steam in the first quarter of the year, according to estimates by the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.

The GDPNow forecasting model showed annualised growth of 4% in real GDP for the first quarter of 2018, as of February 9.

The model is not an official forecast. It provides an estimation of current economic developments before the Bureau of Economic Analysis publishes official figures. However, the index is compiled using a similar methodology to the one
