MNB governor signals cautious optimism over euro adoption
Hungary has to overcome ‘pessimism’ if it wants to join currency union, says Varga
The governor of the Central Bank of Hungary (MNB) has called for patient, co-ordinated fiscal and monetary policy-making as the country mulls whether to join the euro.
Mihály Varga outlined the current state of the country’s plans for euro accession on September 10 in a speech at the Hungarian Economic Association’s annual conference.
