The Reserve Bank of Malawi has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with local authorities in an attempt to strengthen its anti-counterfeiting initiatives.

The nation’s police service, microfinance network and bankers’ association have all signed the MoU.

“With our collaborative efforts, attempts to bring counterfeit currency into circulation can continue to be nipped in the bud at the earliest possible time,” governor Dalitso Kabambe said on August 22.
