Riksbank sees payments challenges ahead

Sveriges Riksbank sees challenges on the horizon as consumers switch to new methods of payment and away from cash, reducing the central bank's income from seigniorage.

Writing in the introduction to the Riksbank's annual report for 2014, governor Stefan Ingves said the central bank had noticed a "clear trend" towards digital forms of payment.
