Brief History

The Bank of Mozambique (Banco de Moçambique) was established on 17 May 1975 by Decree N°. 2/75, to take over activities of Banco Nacional Ultramarino in Mozambique. Under Decree N°. 3/92 of 25 February the Commercial Bank of Mozambique (Banco Comercial de Moçambique) was created to take over all commercial banking functions formerly performed by the Bank of Mozambique.
