Brief History

The Bank of Mexico was founded on 25 August 1925 and started operations on 1 September of that year. As the country’s central bank, it has operational and managerial independence from the executive branch. Its current charter, adopted on 1 April 1994, grants this autonomy to the bank. According to its charter, the prime objective of the Bank of Mexico is to seek the stability of the purchasing power of the domestic currency - to maintain low and stable inflation. The bank is also
