Brief History

Established on 26 April 1992 following independence from the former Republic of Yugoslavia. The law governing the central bank is the Law on the National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia adopted in 2010.
In 2019, the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia changed its name to the National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia following the official change of the name of the country.
