The Bank of Albania is the central bank of the Republic of Albania. It was established during the transition to a two-tier banking system and became official through law N°. 7559, dated 22 April 1992 “On the Bank of Albania”. Its status was established by article 161 of the Constitution and by law N°. 8269, dated 27 December 1997 “On the Bank of Albania”, as amended, which set out the central bank’s targets, tasks, relationship with the banking system and the state, organisation
