Market participants may be vulnerable to "snapback risk" if they fail to account for the effect of central bank asset purchases and market dynamics on bond prices, the general manager of the Bank for International Settlements said today (November 15).

Addressing an audience in London, Jaime Caruana said low growth was not the only factor behind very low bond yields in many markets. The BIS chief pointed to five market dynamics that also held yields down, including purchases by short-duration
