Cœuré says ECB will not tighten ‘in near future’

The European Central Bank (ECB) will not be tightening its monetary policy "in the near future", according to executive board member Benoît Cœuré, and could still deploy further measures.

Speaking in London today, Cœuré said the ECB would continue to support the monetary policy transmission mechanism "as long as necessary" and certainly under the current economic conditions of weak growth and low inflation.
