BoE’s McCafferty denies Monetary Policy Committee has ‘gone soft’

Ian McCafferty, an external member of the Bank of England's (BoE) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), today expressed concern that inflation was likely to remain "elevated", but said the signs indicated that the central bank should not act yet.

Addressing a conference on ‘Women in Business', McCafferty said credit conditions, business investment and the global outlook were all improving, leaving him "hopeful for a modest pickup in growth". He said inflation was "more concerning" – the MPC expected
