Cyprus governor urges fast implementation of SSM

The governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus, Panicos Demetriades, on September 25 said the phasing-in of the single supervisory mechanism (SSM) in Europe is a matter of "urgency".

Speaking at the Cyprus International Business Association in Limassol, Demetriades said a banking union with the European Central Bank at the core will foster financial integration and help restore confidence in the supervision of banks in the eurozone.
