Norway’s Olsen advises banks to further strengthen capital ratios

The governor of the Norges Bank, Øystein Olsen, today (May 14) said banks should use their "solid profits" to continue to strengthen their capital ratios in the coming years.

Olsen spoke at a press conference introducing the central bank's May 2012 Financial Stability report, which showed banks have improved their loss-absorbing capacity through earnings retention and by raising fresh equity capital.
