ECB’s Cœuré urges governments and banks to act

European Central Bank (ECB) executive board member Benoît Cœuré said in a speech on April 11 that monetary policy alone cannot cure the underlying fragility of the eurozone financial markets.

Addressing the Association Française des Tresoriers d'Entreprises in Paris, Cœuré said the ECB policies had cured the "immediate symptoms" of the crisis, but governments and banks must address the "underlying causes" of the financial crisis.
