Bangladesh governor lauds role of microfinance in economy
Bangladesh Bank governor Atiur Rahman on March 20 highlighted the role of the microfinance sector in maintaining domestic demand and ‘tiding over' Bangladesh during the financial crisis.
Speaking at the South East Asian Co-operation foundation conference in Dhaka, Rahman said microfinance programmes have contributed to a reduction in rural poverty.
