Sifi rules will make financial system safer: BIS’s Cecchetti


Stephen Cecchetti, an economic adviser and head of the monetary and economic department of the Bank for International Settlements, on Thursday said the new financial stability rules being established will make the financial system safer for not just systemically important financial institutions (Sifis).

Speaking at the CFA Institute in Paris, France, Cecchetti compared the global financial crisis to a truck carrying 30,000 litres of gasoline highways crashing and exploding along a highway, and
