RBI’s Subbarao on scaling up corporate governance in emerging markets


Duvvuri Subbarao, the governor of the Reserve Bank of India, on Tuesday said banks' crucial role in financial intermediation suggested that corporate governance in emerging markets would need to be enhanced further.

At the Ficci-IBA Conference on Global Banking: Paradigm Shift, in Mumbai, India, Subbarao said: "If banks are ‘special' in so many ways that I have indicated above, it follows that corporate governance of banks has to be special too, reflecting these special features. In particular
