Mersch on Basel III liquidity proposals


Yves Mersch, the governor of the Central Bank of Luxembourg, on April 27, said the Basel III proposals for new liquidity standards for banks would help alleviate systemic liquidity risk.

At the General Assembly of the Luxembourg Bankers' Association in Luxembourg, Mersch said: "The Basel III regulations will provide regulators with standard empirical measures of liquidity risk providing them with a toolkit that can help to mitigate funding and market liquidity risk."
