Norway's Olsen: price stability remains central bank's priority

Øystein Olsen, the governor of the Norges Bank, on Thursday said maintaining stable and low inflation should remain the primary objective of monetary policy.

Speaking to the Supervisory Council of the Norges Bank, Olsen said: "Inflation is so low today that most people barely give it a thought. The rate of increase in consumer prices has disappeared from the front pages, where it was a frequent guest in the 1980s. We do not miss inflation."
