RBI’s Gokarn identifies emerging inflation risks

Subir Gokarn, a deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India, on Tuesday said increasing the supply of high protein foods would help ease inflation in India.

The inflation rate in India, which was briefly negative in the middle of 2009, began to accelerate rapidly into double-digit figures during the first half of 2010. Gokarn said inflation, which was persistently above the upper bound of the comfort zone, was a "cause of concern."
