New York Fed's Geithner on hedge funds

In the speech 'Hedge funds and derivatives and their implications for the financial system' given on 14 September Timothy Geithner of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York said financial regulators need to pay more attention to whether margin requirements placed on investors such as hedge funds are adequate.

Efforts to strengthen capital markets should ``be reinforced with more attention by supervisors to margin practice and limits around the counterparty risk-management process,'' Geithner said
