Shirakawa: consider cross-border collateral

Central banks should consider expanding their operation in terms of providing credit through cross-border collateral, said Masaaki Shirakawa, the governor of the Bank of Japan.

Central banks were originally established to achieve financial stability and it is important for them to know the situation of individual banks since they provide credit for them, said the governor.
