Trichet: ECB monetary policy strategy after May 03

In a speech on 'The ECB's monetary policy strategy after the evaluation and clarification of May 2003' given on 27 November, Jean-Claude Trichet of the ECB said EMU is based on the conviction that Europe can derive strong benefits from a "culture of stability and confidence" in which there is a clear allocation of responsibilities to different policy-makers. Monetary policy has made its contribution to achieving this aim, he concluded.
