Kroszner on Basel II

The recent turmoil in financial markets has highlighted the need for risk management improvements and the lessons from the crisis should help supervisors to further increase the effectiveness of the Basel II framework, said Randall Kroszner, a governor of the Federal Reserve.

"The framework more closely aligns regulatory capital requirements with actual risks, which should lead institutions to make better decisions about extending credit, mitigating risks, and determining overall capital needs,"
