Trichet on the euro

In this interview, Jean-Claude Trichet, the president of the European Central Bank, discusses various developments surrounding the euro.

Trichet said policymakers in Europe were not concerned with whether the euro replaces the dollar as the world's number one reserve currency, pointing out that "the euro was not created for this purpose."
