ECB research examines impact of fiscal policies on eurozone growth

A working paper published by the European Central Bank on April 10 explores the impact that fiscal policy has had on euro area growth rates since the financial crisis.

Authors Günter Coenen, Roland Straub and Mathias Trabandt conclude that 'discretionary' fiscal policies pursued by euro area governments and central banks contributed annualised quarterly growth of 1.6% to the euro area in the time period concerned.
