Philly Fed: banking sector returns to profit
A report by the Philadelphia Federal Reserve shows banks' performance demonstrated signs of improvement in the fourth quarter of 2009 despite continuous problems that plague the financial industry.
According to the report, large banking organisations in the region monitored by the regional Fed posted a small aggregate profit while losses at community banks remained about the same as in the third quarter. Large banking organisations reported positive profits for the first time in several quarters
