Kuwaiti banks perform well under stress, report shows

Banks strengthened their capital positions in 2014

Kuwait's banking system performed strongly during stress tests and strengthened its resilience to shocks throughout 2014, the Central Bank of Kuwait said in its latest financial stability report, published on July 13.

"Banks in general were able to maintain high capital adequacy even after the impact of severe shocks to the system calibrated under various scenarios," the central bank said. The lowest capital adequacy ratio recorded under the tests was 8.9%.
