Korean governor wants domestic demand boost


Kim Choongsoo, the Bank of Korea governor, believes long-run domestic demand must be expanded to strengthen the foundations of growth for Korean companies, according to comments made at a financial council meeting on October 24.

The governor's comments followed concerns raised by presidents from six of the country's banks – present at the meeting – regarding the "deteriorating business environment" for small and medium enterprises, owing to sluggish exports and domestic demand.
