BoE survey shows inflation expectations have hit fresh high
The Bank of England's survey of public attitudes to inflation, released on Friday, showed inflation expectations rose to 3.3% in May, up 0.8 percentage points from February.
According to the figures released every quarter, the median expectations of the rate of inflation over the coming year was 3.3% in May, compared with 2.5% in February. The last time it was 3.3% or higher was in August 2008 when it was 4.4%.
When asked to give the current rate of inflation, respondents gave a median answer of
