Czech National Bank - Annual Report 2008

The Czech banking sector was not hit directly by the global financial crisis, says Zdenek Tuma, the governor of the country's central bank, in the latest Annual Report.

The governor says that one of the strengths of the domestic banking sector was that deposits of households and corporations remained the main source of loan financing. He also says that the dominance of domestic currency loans also minimised the transfer of exchange-rate risk to households and corporations.

He also says that
